Brian D’Silva is currently Senior Advisor on Aid Policy with BSI’s South Sudan program. Brian has more than 35 years of experience in development work in sub-Saharan Africa. He has taught at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria, and was a Ford Foundation visiting Professor at the University of Khartoum. In addition, he has worked with USAID, both in Washington and in field missions in Sudan as well as the regional Mission for East and Southern Africa in Nairobi. As part of USAID’s Sudan task force, he was also part of the US Government team at the Naivasha peace talks that led to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. He was instrumental in designing and implementing USAID’s development assistance program for South Sudan, transitioning from a subregional entity to an independent naKon State.

Brian retired from the US government aSer nearly 32 years of service before joining BSI-ODI in April 2012. He has also published extensively and spoken publicly on issues related to war and peace in Sudan and South Sudan.
